Here I am reading to Miranda's Sunday school class in the forest, after planting some trees in honour of Earth Day. I can't claim to have been particularly church-friendly or enviro-friendly over the past couple of decades; yet, amazingly, no one was struck by lightning.

My new T.A.

I really think I should hire Miranda to help me through grading all my papers at this time of year. She's cute, she's efficient, and she'll work for goldfish crackers! I took a break this weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday on Saturday night at Granville Island while Steve and Miranda held the fort at home. OK, I don't have her trained as a marker yet--but she's a great daddy-sitter!

Madly off in all directions

Steve headed for the high seas with his sailing buddy, Jon, while Miranda and I went for a post-birthday treat: an afternoon at a performance of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver with our friends Jada, Anne, and Lenya. Steve's Mom left on Saturday after a two-week visit: we enjoyed her company so much--as always--now she's back in Ottawa, and next time it will be our turn (maybe next summer en route to New Brunswick)...
