Post-op on the patio

Still in recovery mode, but nothing a little wine won't cure... Wonderful to have Steve home safe and sound. We all moved into Auntie Janie and Uncle Merlyn's in town for the duration--it was great to be close by the hospital. The surgeon called me immediately after the procedure to say, "Good news! Your husband can still move his legs!" Geez, good thing I didn't even know I was supposed to be worried about that! Visitors and well-wishers, you should know he's not allowed to shower for a week...and (a side effect of the medication) he's feelin' mighty itchy! and scratchy! Oh wait, it says "no alcohol" on the pill bottles! Yeesh, can't a guy have any fun? Damn the torpedoes; full speed ahead!

Happy Holiday Weekend

And happy (18th) anniversary to us!
...and what better way to celebrate than nude gardening en famille?

As Mother Nature tells us,
When you plant a tiny seed,
The results can be astounding,
Astounding yes indeed!

Play Time

We convinced Miranda to abandon her beloved sandbox (temporarily!) for a visit to Family Place this morning. She had a fabulous time with her little friends, and came home thoroughly soaked from playing at the water table there. Her two favourite things these days seem to be sand and water--wait till we hit the beach!

Happy Mother's Day!

Steve's surgery has been postponed; spent the day gardening (having recently joined the Bowen Garden Club)...
Now we're off to our favourite Island restaurant, the Tuscany, for dinner!
A very happy Mom's Day to all the mothers, daughters and sons out there!...As they say, I guess that's everyone!!!!

Thanks, Mom

We celebrated Mother's Day a week early to avoid a conflict with Steve's anticipated back surgery (a long-awaited discectomy). Miranda was less than thrilled to be stuffed into her party dress and photographed for posterity (kudos to John for setting up and taking this charming portrait of us three girls)--but the little Dickens enjoyed her daddy's succulent roast lamb dinner nonetheless; let's hope the upcoming operation won't compromise his skills as a chef! (But will he be able to play the piano?)... In any case, we're likely to be preoccupied next weekend, so happy Mom's Day in advance to all!

Hair!

Guess who went to Veronika's salon (here on Bowen) today? Miranda recently visited "chez Daddy" for a similarly gorgeous cut and style.

Beautiful Katie...

Jackie and Andrew are settling in beautifully with baby Katie. We had a lovely visit with them in Vancouver and can't wait to see more of this little charmer--she's an amazing little girl! Welcome, Miss Kate!
