Jeunes filles (etc.) au jardin

Adorable, n'est-ce pas?
Miranda & Raia had a hilarious time in the pool, devilled eggs (!!!) and all. The real highlight came later: Cheryl's homemade banana-berry gelato: yummmm!

A wonderful summer apres-midi with friends a la mode!

(Now, back to Harry Potter!)

Kindred Spirits

Lovely sun after a week of rain!
...and two generations of girlfriends (with another little girl on the way very soon--good luck, Jen!)...
Madeline and Miranda were so sweet together--we had a great picnic, walk through Bowen's "Labyrinth," beach party, snacks & hugs at "The Snug"!

Dovetail Woodcraft Launches New Line

...and Miranda is happily product-testing these interlocking pine elephants! Now she wants a rocking horse, a teeter-totter, and a bandsaw of her own. Folks, it's not too early to start thinking about Christmas; place your orders at

Loafing Around Again

I baked this delectable cranberry banana loaf, with lemon glaze and garnished with fresh blueberries and cherries, to take to dinner with Carmen, Peter, and Wilson.
Miranda said on the drive over, "Oh, they will be sooooo happy to see me!" Gotta love that attitude, babe! (And, of course, it was true)...

Spent a fun afternoon at the aquarium... Good thing we got that family membership!

Lavender Blue, Dilly Dilly

Nanny Carol took this photo of me and the lavender lemon loaf I baked to take with us to a lovely evening next door with friends and neighbours. Dilly-icious!

Hear No Weevil, See No Weevil, Speak No Weevil

Delightfully, our Sunday picnic had two Nannies and no ants.

The real challenge in the garden, as our little BoBo discovered, is having to choose between the lesser of two weevils.

Kissin' Cousins

Jen, Linden, Theo and baby Jack arrived safely in Vancouver after a long flight from France via Heathrow with Janie and Merlyn! We had a lovely afternoon with them at the Royeas', and I got to hold Petit Monsieur in my arms while Petite Mademoiselle Jalouse looked on!

Welcome to Hamburger Hill

Neighbours Rob, Jayne, Jesse and Josh joined us for BBQ: choice of chicken or buffalo burgers. Quote of the day (you had to be there!) is from Nanny Carol: "Do you suppose they ARE real buffalo? After all, when we order 'buffalo wings' at a restaurant..."

I Heart Grandma

Miranda's T-shirt says it all! Nanny Carol is visiting from Ottawa until the 21st, and who knows? Perhaps we will make great strides in potty training! If so (and even if not) all will be well documented on film, albeit somewhat "overexposed" in this case. To pee or not to pee? THAT is the question.

Welcome to the Planet Tralfamadore

Reading group faithfuls made the trek across the universe (well, at least "halfway across the province" as at least one person observed!) to wine and dine and talk about Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. in easy circumstances. Note the absence of viands on the banquet table--all veggie stuff except for the tuna (or was it Trout?) in the antipasto; the ensuing discussion was conducted with military precision (NOT!), and so the only Slaughterhouse was in the novel itself. Lots of Funf, though! So it goes.

Viva Las Vegas

Yes, my only Canada-Day-red shirt reads "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada." Nonetheless, we headed down to Crippen Park for the community celebration, which included live music, live snakes (!!!!), and a huge carrot cake. Only on Bowen!
Happy Canada Day!
