Party Time!

We had a fabulous time at our friend Baby Katie's first birthday in East Van--great to drive back through the old neighborhood again en route to the big bash! And isn't she a charmer? Steve and I rounded out the weekend by going to a Canucks game (they won 6-2 against the Calgary Flames!) on Sunday night to belatedly celebrate his 46th b-day (which was actually March 25th). With April fast approaching, what shall we celebrate next for a hat trick?

March Break!

And here I was worried about Miranda getting enough social time over her school holiday: Easter Egg hunt at the Community Centre; dress-up time (and fun with live chickens!) down the road at Cheryl and Raia's; tea and cookies with Jean (my walk/run buddy) and her daughter Makena; fun with big boxes (from Steve's dust-collection unit for the workshop) with Monica and Lenya from next door; a visit from my Vancouver pal Pam and son Kai (10); playdate and muffins at Sue's with little Eliana and Josh; dinner and revelry chez Carmen, Peter and Wilson; little girlfriends (in photo here) and their families for Good Friday egg-colouring and lunch; Nana and Grandad for an early Easter dinner...and that's only week one! I think we'll take it easier next week: we need a break, from March Break!

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em

No, Miranda is not auditioning for a remake of Egoyan's "Exotica," which probably wouldn't get funding under the current Conservative plan (I am determined to start infusing my blog with some sociopolitical commentary!)
Nana Lorna took this excellent photo of Miranda at Kwantlen's Employee Recognition Awards Ceremony, where I received a framed certificate commemorating ten years of full-time "Service." This year's theme (fedora, pearls, candy cigs at the door) was "The Roaring Twenties"--thank goodness it wasn't "Hawaiian Night" as in a past year's event I heard about...although I think we had a few too many Shirley Temples (hence the somewhat glazed look in the eyes!?!) to celebrate my moment of triumph: sweeeeeeet!

Having their cake and eating it too!

Miranda attended the 4th birthday celebration of her friend and neighbour, Lenya--the one in the royal throne chair beside princess M. Let them eat cake--right, girls and boys?! (And the adults had some, too!--nothing like cake at 11AM to get the day off to a promising start!)

Four Stars

Cousin Mary, Jim, and "Great Aunt" Margaret came over to the Island for a beautiful, sunny afternoon with us. Mary and Jim are relocating from TaiPei to Shanghai next month for Jim's work in luxury hotel management. But today, "Chez Miranda" was just their cup of tea!
