Ms Chunky Soup 2010

Miranda took this picture of me the other day (yes, that's an empty Campbell's Chunky Soup can I'm holding--I've been so hungry lately I probably consumed the entire contents myself)! Many friends and relatives have requested photographic evidence of my "bump"--so here it is... although it really is more of an all-over-body phenomenon, as you can see. Fortunately, black is so slimming: well, maybe not in this case! Approximately one more month of being a big eater... Mmm, mmm, good!

Little house in the big woods

Yes, folks, it's all ours as of May 1, for the duration of our renovations! We'll be renting this cozy log cabin for a year as we progress through all the planned changes at Huckleberry Hill. As a prelude to relocating, I've been sorting through our storage room (dubbed "the mushroom room," or sometimes just the "mush-room" in honour of the fungi growing there on the mouldering, stain-sodden carpet). This is a great motivation for doing some downsizing and de-pack-rat-ifying--wish me luck! Thanks to gestational diabetes, my energy is sporadic and limited, but that in itself may prove a positive force in the (re)/settling process. Less is more...

Daddy brings home the mother of all septic systems

Genesis: Stage 1 of renovations begins! You see here part of the new septic system: to me, obsessed by all things maternal as we reach 7.5 months of gestation, it resembled nothing so much as a giant breast. I got a funny look from Steve and his crew when I mentioned it, though... (and the other tank, which arrived later, looked to me like a big green womb). These delightful monstrosities, currently adorning our side lawn, will be given a decent burial next weekend: I plan an Exodus to go shopping on the mainland with my Mom and Miranda to get away from it all for awhile!
