Goggles!

Miranda is trying out her new goggles in the bath--practicing for swimming lessons. Don't you love that shade of green? Sam (in Miranda's group at the Aquatic Centre, and our fellow-commuter from the island twice a week) has the same ones. Nanny Carol (visiting for a couple of weeks from Ottawa) will come with us to the West Vancouver pool, where the water is as warm as... bath water!

Miranda, Jada, and Ailsa--at our place for tea and playtime, after a field trip to the beach (where a diver brought forth a variety of sea creatures for the inspection of curious preschoolers)--all are posing for the camera in their unique ways here: enigmatic, glamorous, silly...etc. J and A are already 5, so Miranda is eager to swim with the big fish (soon!)

Seasons in the sun

Here's Miranda standing in front of a picture of me and my Grammy (one of the Louises whom Miranda's named after), a photo which was taken in the summer of 1981. Miranda's pony tail hairstyle is a new favourite since we began swimming at the West Vancouver Aquatic Centre this month--in a few short months we'll be swimming in the ocean! Meanwhile, I've been squeezing into my maternity suit (no photo available!) to get some gentle exercise while Miranda has her lessons twice a week.

Snow White and Rose Red

Miranda and Lenya in princess mode (pretending to be princesses/ colouring pictures of princesses, etc.)... They're also making plans for revamping their summer clubhouse (sign reads: Private Club--No One Welcome). One of Steve's recent commissions was to build an elaborate outdoor guinea pig cage (dubbed "the castle") for Lenya's birthday pets, Thunder and Splash. Hard to believe our Princess M will be 5 in less than a month!
